Manny Pacquiao’s wife and mother said the Filipino fighter should retire after Saturday’s knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez.

“When you see your husband get hurt, you cannot even sleep,” Jinkee Pacquiao, Manny’s wife, said in an interview on the GMA Network that aired Monday in the Philippines.

Jinkee was highly emotional Saturday following the knockout, weeping inconsolably as she attempted to climb into the ring to reach her fallen husband after a counter right hand from Marquez left him face down and unconscious on the canvas for nearly two minutes.

Does that mean she wants Pacquiao, the first and only eight-division champion in boxing history, to retire?

“You know the answer to that,” she told the interviewer, according to Agence France-Presse. “He knows what I am asking him”.

Pacquiao’s mother Dionisia was more direct in a separate interview on the same network.

“I have long asked you son, it is time to retire because you started boxing at such a young age. I always pray that he will stop. I asked God to tell my son to stop,” she said.

Dionisia had previously blamed Pacquiao’s defeat — his first by way of knockout since 1999 — on the religious recommitment he’s undergone over the past year, attributing his lost sleep to late-night Bible studies with “Protestant pastors.”

“That’s what he gets for changing his religion,” she said, a quote that led a front-page story in Monday’s Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Pacquiao turns 34 on December 17. He’s amassed a record of 54 wins, six losses and two draws with 38 knockouts since turning pro as a 106-pounder in 1995.

Top     reasons Manny can still fight :4. Resign from office.   3.Stop being in show business.   2.Train moderately for 6 months and train properly 2 months before the fight.   1. And the number one must do,  change his coaching staff. Roach is out. Ariza is out. Buboy stays.

Most people don't even know he has a weekly game show called "Manny Many Prizes." Time to retire.

Pac should fight and win one more to go out on top.  Forget what these women are saying.  You need to end this RIGHT!

Maybe it is time. The KO put the luster of a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight at rock bottom. Mayweather is stalling to fight him, and so it's looking more like this fight will never happen.

Manny won't go out like that. He'll fight at least once more.

He needs to retire or juice up.  Manny is no longer in the game.  Then again, $ for a 5th fight is hard to resist, but unless Manny juice up, the result will be the same.

Your country is more important than personal wealth and ego....stick to your congressional job, and drop the self interests. What's most interesting is the front page article about the typhoon victims begging for food....right next to a color advertisement for a McDonald's "Big Mac" hamburger! Somebody didn't edit the front page properly!

Manny needs to retire.  Without his family's support, he will continue his downward spiral which will tarnish an already blemished record.  He started boxing for his family, to put food on the table and to give them a better life.  That was his motivation.  The motivation will no longer be there without the support of his family.

Also, it seems that Manny's attempt to salvage his marriage affected his boxing in a negative way.  If he still loves boxing but retires because of his wife, I'm sure he will eventually resent her for it.  But that's another story.....

Even better, you should volunteer to step up in his place.

No.  We all know that in Mexico it is the norm there to juice up or put plaster of paris on their fist.  Ask Angel Memo Heredia, a known and admitted PEDs trafficker to Marion Jones as reported in the different website.  Heredia was born, raised, and grew up in Mexico and peddles his PEDs stateside.  Based on the past 3 fights of Pacquiao against Marquez, those right hand punches were just shrugged off by Pacquiao.  Pacquiao just breezed through them and shrugged them off.  One thing about Marquez is that he is stronger and powerful, fast as Pacquiao, and has AGED at 39 ALL AT THE SAME TIME.  Marquez present physique is very suspicious.

@Semper_Fidelis  @Bahia “You can say anything you want, but [if] you don’t have any proof, it means nothing,” Marquez said. “I told them I am willing to take any exam they want. Let’s go together, we’ll do it together.”
